Measures of Androgyny

A 5 page literature review that examines the various ways of measuring androgyny. In examining the methods of measurement we illustrate some specific studies which have researched individual androgynous concerns. With each of these studies it becomes more and more apparent that the most widely recognized measuring scale is the Bem Sex-Role Inventory, which essentially defines the masculine and feminine characteristics of an individual through the use of a questionnaire that uses adjectives with which the subject can rate themselves. While there are other methods, and while Bem’s inventory may not address all the issues of a particular study, the Bem Sex-Role Inventory is the most widely implemented measurement device in regards to androgyny. Mike Tyson -- A Life of Constant Highs and Lows

This 14 page report discusses boxer Mike Tyson. In the late 1980s, reporters called him the “new young tiger,” “an orphaned street robber found handcuffed to a reform-school radiator,” a “square, two -fisted hulk with a short man’s proclivity for uppercuts,” and the “undefeated young barbarian.” In 1992, he was sentenced to six years in prison after a jury found him guilty of rape. He was released saying his life was changed but was imprisoned again in 1999 after the assault of two men following a traffic accident. His life had been a remarkable series of great accomplishments and dismal disasters. He has conquered many barriers and remained locked behind others. Moral Consciousness: An Influence on Understanding of World Politics?

An 8 page consideration of whether or moral consciousness imparts a better understanding of world politics. Contends that moral consciousness has distinct phases of development. In the early stages of this development it can be argued that it is shaped by those very factors of which we perceive it as standing in judgment. It can be argued in fact that during these early developmental phases, our understanding, and approval or disapproval, of world politics has more to do with those that are in control than it is any independent characteristic that an individual might possess.
